Playing

5 questions
Is Bitsigil free?

Yes. Bitsigil is free to play in your browser, and so is its first card set, the 110-card Core Set. You start with two copies of every Core Common and the Uncommons of the faction you pick as your banner, then win the rest at the tables.

Rise of the Sigils, the next card set, will come in card packs.

What do I need to play?

A computer with a keyboard and a mouse, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and a wallet in your browser to sign in. There is nothing to download: open play.bitsigil.xyz and step into the capital.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

Not yet. You walk with the keyboard and play your cards with the mouse, so for now Bitsigil needs a computer. Controls for phones and tablets are on the list for later.

Can I play with my friends?

Yes. Click a player in the world to see their profile, add them as a friend and invite them to a duel, played right where you both stand. In the tavern, sit at one of the twelve tables and wait for a challenger; in the arena, ranked matches pair you with players of a similar rating.

How does a match work?

Each player brings a 30-card deck and a hero with 25 health, and may swap the cards they do not want from their opening hand. Mana grows by one each turn, up to ten: spend it on creatures and spells, with up to six creatures on each side. Bring the other hero to zero and you win. A turn lasts at most 75 seconds, so matches keep moving.

A match step by step is on the game page.

Cards

3 questions
How do I earn cards?

By winning. Each card player in the five regions gives you a card of their faction when you beat them, once a day; Innkeeper Bram and Wandering Bard Lyra in the tavern give Neutral cards. The day's first card reward gives two cards, and you can win up to ten cards a day.

Each region champion's first defeat gives you the champion's own Legendary card.

How do decks work?

A deck holds 30 cards from at most two factions plus Neutral, with up to two copies of a card and one of a Legendary. You start with five decks ready to play, one for each faction, and you can keep up to twelve in the deck builder.

Can I trade cards?

Not for real yet. The Market Board in the Market Square is a test market for now: you can try it with test money and test copies of your cards, and nothing you do there touches your collection.

Trading for real is planned with card minting on Robinhood Chain, for the cards that come from packs. The cards you start with and the cards the tables give you stay with your account.

Rise of the Sigils

4 questions
What is Rise of the Sigils?

Bitsigil's next card set: 180 new cards, thirty for each faction and thirty Neutral, with four new keywords: Farewell, Shield, Unseen and Welcome. Its eighteen Legendaries are the card masters you meet in the realm, Innkeeper Bram and Arena Master Varric among them.

More on the Rise of the Sigils page.

When does Rise of the Sigils come out?

There is no date yet. Rise of the Sigils is the next set, and its release will be announced on X: follow @PlayBitsigil.

How will I get its cards?

From card packs: the Silver Pack and the Gold Pack, five cards of the set in each. Packs can be won by play too: each region champion's first defeat gives a Silver Pack, and the Champions' Final a Gold Pack, once card packs open.

The odds are shown in the shop, on the pack and on the opening screen, exactly as the server draws them, and you can set your own spending limit, or a pause, in Settings.

Will I need the new cards to win?

No. The set's rarer cards are a step stronger, but the set was tuned in the game's balance simulator so that they give an edge, never a sure win: decks built from the free Core Set stay in the game.

Robinhood Chain

4 questions
What is Robinhood Chain?

The blockchain Bitsigil's economy will run on, built on Arbitrum. Wallet sign-in works today; an NFT collection, card minting and an on-chain market are planned, so you can hold the cards you collect.

The roadmap shows where each part stands.

Do I need a wallet?

Yes: you sign in with one, and each wallet is its own account. A wallet in your browser, such as MetaMask or Rabby, does the job. Once you have signed in, that browser keeps you signed in for 30 days.

Does signing in cost anything?

No. Your wallet only signs a message: there is no transaction and no gas, and nothing needs to be in your wallet.

Are my cards NFTs?

Not yet. Today your cards are kept with your account in the game. Card minting is planned for the cards that come from packs: a card you mint becomes a token on Robinhood Chain, held in your own wallet.

The project

3 questions
Is the game finished?

No. Bitsigil is in development, and the live game at play.bitsigil.xyz is a test version: cards, rules and places can change as it is built.

Will my progress carry over to the launch?

No. Every account is reset before the launch: cards, decks and progress start over for everyone.

Where can I follow the game?

On X, at @PlayBitsigil: new cards, festivals and the road to launch are announced there. The bigger updates are also on the news page.

The best answer is a match.

Bitsigil is free and runs in your browser. Take a seat at the tavern and see for yourself, or follow along on X.
